NSDL crosses 1 crore Demat accounts :: Congrats

National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL) has crossed 1,00,00,000 (one crore) demat accounts. Really it’s a big achievement because 80% of securities held in dematerialized in INDIA, which indicates the preference and trust of the inverstors in maintaining their assets with NSDL.

In my view this also shows investors faith and confidence on Indian economy. People want to invest money in INDIA markets. And moreover IPO also contributes to this. I have spoken to so many brokers, they said whenever a good IPO hits market, they see a rapid growth in Demat accounts.

Do you know about "Applications Supported by Blocked Amount(ASBA)" for investing in IPO... Check our upcoming posts.

Information of Indian Government Authorized Centers for Swine Flu Cure & common Dos and Don’ts about H1N1 Swine Flu

Like any other flu, Swine Flu too spreads through normal human interaction. Only by awareness we can cure it. Please take care of yourself and your family and actively reach for medical help in recognized government hospitals in case you find any of these symptoms in unusual manner–
Don’t worry, it can be an ordinary flu, but let doctors decide that.

Common Symptoms are—

1. Cough
2. Nausea
3. Headache & Body Ache
4. Sore Throat
5. Fatigue
6. Chills
7. Diarrhea
8. Vomiting
9. Fever

Here are a few Dos and Don`ts to help keep Swine Flu away from you.
(Remember, Prevention is the only solution, there are no vaccines for this pandemic outbreak as of now)

Dos

1. Have you N95 mask always ready with you and use it wherever you find more rush to avoid infection.
2. Cover the nose and mouth with cloth/tissue when coughing or sneezing
3. Clean your hands after coughing or sneezing
4. Wash hands with soap and water
5. Avoid touching surfaces that are likely to have been touched by others (e.g. Door Handles, Stair railings etc.)
6. Get enough sleep (8hrs every night)
7. Drink lots of water (8-10 glasses per day)
8. Eat Immune-Boosting foods (fresh vegetables, fruits)
9. Avoid Alcohol as it lowers immunity
10. Keep Physically Active – It builds immunity
11. Avoid contact with sick people
12. If symptoms aggravate to never before levels for a normal flu
13. Keep it in perspective – don’t think you have contracted H1N1 at the first sign of flu, it could be just another flu.

Don`ts

1. Avoid handshaking, social kissing, and other social rituals that involve touching others
2. Be careful with respiratory secretions when around other people (e.g. coughing and sneezing)
3. If possible, avoid contact with individuals at risk(small children or those with underlying or chronic illnesses) until respiratory symptoms have resolved
4. Avoid exposing to others too, if you happen to be sick yourself

I have tried searching on net about authorized Government hospitals where you can get checkup for Swine Flu infection. I found a list and please contact the hospitals for final verification about treatment availability.

Withdraw cash at Shopping Counters

Now you can withdraw cash at shops (point of sale). Yup one more gift from Reserve Bank of India to banking customers. When I was in US I noticed that we can have a cash withdraw (they called it cashback) at the sales counters while swiping my card. Till date there is no such provision in INDIA. But now Reserve Bank of India, on 22 July 2009 issued a notification which will enable consumer to take cash upto 1000Rs/day at sales counters.

Well this is indeed a very encouraging step for banks because this will increase accessibility to customers. As per the data published in RBI notification “As on May 31, 2009, number of ATMs and POS terminals in the country stood at 44,857 and 4,70,237 respectively”. So obviously consumers will have 10 times more accessibility to cash that before. One thing which is most exciting about this notification is the inclusion of term that “The facility is available irrespective of whether the card holder makes a purchase or not”. So, now this is upto the banks to do the due diligence and start the service.

Let`s have a look on RBI circular Text

Webpage
http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=5184&Mode=0

PDF Format
http://rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/notification/PDFs/CWCI220709.pdf

The only thing which is not clear is about the charges. Will there be any charge or fee for using the service or it will be free as the use of ATM (Automatic Teller Machines).

Online Shopping will be more secured from August 2009

Reserve bank of India is taking serious steps to make our online shopping and transactions with credit cards much secure. Well I am little late to post about it but from August 1st 2009 ,as per RBI notification date February 18,2009 your credit card will not work online until you register it with “Verified with VISA” or “Master card 3D secure”. Actually it is nothing but providing an extra level of authorization to make the process more secure.

As per Reserve Bank of India,

It would be mandatory to put in place with effect from August 01, 2009:

i) A system of providing for additional authentication/validation based on information not visible on the cards for all on-line card not present transactions except IVR transactions (for which separate instructions will follow).

ii) A system of "Online Alerts" to the cardholder for all 'card not present' transactions of the value of Rs. 5,000/ and above.

3. Banks are advised to strictly adhere to the instructions and time discipline indicated in this circular. Non-adherence to the directives shall attract penalties prescribed under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act 2007 (Act 51 of 2007).

Please find the Reserve Bank Notification Here

No the question is, how to register for Verified by VISA or Master card 3D secure code?

It’s very simple to register for this extra level of protection and it is available Free of cost. You need to register your card with the Card issuing Bank on their website. For your convenience, I am putting links of main banks. Just click on the links and register your card. Few of the banks are taking your Internet banking password in place of “Verified by VISA or Master card 3D secure code”, but better to have a check.

SMS BASED SERVICE FOR CHALLAN STATUS FOR TIN-NSDL

Tax Information Network (TIN) hosted by National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on behalf of Income Tax Department (ITD) gives you a facility to verify whether the banks have correctly uploaded the details of your tax deposit to ITD through SMS.

SMS based verification

The procedure for availing this facility is as under:

1. Send an SMS to 575758 with a message containing the word CSI followed by a space and CIN provided by the respective Bank at the time of making the Direct tax payment and the amount.

2. Challan Identification Number (CIN) consists of BSR Code of Collecting Branch (seven digit), Challan Tender Date (DDMMYYYY) and Challan Serial No (length less than or equal to 5 digit).

3. The amount is an optional field. If you provide the amount in the SMS you would get the confirmation whether the amount uploaded by bank matches with the amount paid by you.

4. Each of BSR code, Tender date, the challan serial number and amount should be separated by commas

For e.g., if the tax payer input “CSI 0510001,11032009,5,5000” where in

“0510001” is the BSR code of the collecting branch,

“11032009” is the Challan tender date,

“5” is the Challan serial number and

“5000” is the amount paid by the taxpayer.

The tax payer will get the information against which TAN/PAN the payment has been accounted with the confirmation whether amount entered is matched or not.

(This is an illustrative CIN, actual CIN should be provided in the SMS).

There will be special charges for these SMS. These charges may vary from one mobile service-provider to another. The charge structure can be obtained from the concerned service-provider.

Online Challan Status Inquiry

You can also get the status of your CIN from www.tin-nsdl.com under the section Challan Status Inquiry.

Last month Satyam has sent so many people on Virtual Pool Plan. It may be a cost cutting Step for a company. Just remind those lovely days with the poem written by one of our friend

Wo mayfair ka bus stop, Wo Hyderabadi Biryani
Satyam ki life yaaron, ab ban jaayegi kahaani

Aao chalen ek bar phir, un dino ki yaad mein
Jab college se nikalkar hum, aaye Hyderabad mein

Nayi jagah, naye log, Wo pehli job ka excitement
Wo Joining, Induction, ELTP aur STC ka environment

Wo Training ka tension, Wo Assessment ke Dumps
Wo meetings Wo get-togethers, Wo Birthday Bumps

Wo pehli salary ka anokha intezaar
Wo ATM par logon ki lambi kataar

Wo roz roz ki timesheet, Wo kabhi-kabhi ka headcount
Wo Hyd Central ki shopping, Wo Brand Factory ka discount

Wo Outbound ke mazey, Wo Spotlight ka hungama
Wo dances, Wo skits, Wo music Wo drama

Wo training ka end, Wo ghar jaane ka delight
Wo bench ke kisse, Wo hamari pehli Flight

Bench pe overtime, Counter Strike ke liye
Un dina yaarun hum kitna mazan kiye

Wo Sindhi Colony ki galiyan, Wo sham ke nazare
Kuchh ko 2-member projects mile, kuchh reh gaye bechare

Wo Eat Street ki Raunak, Wo Necklace Road ki sair
Ab kya maza wahan pe, yaaron tumhare bagair

Sign in sign out mein bhi, khoob ki manmaani
Satyam ki life yaaron, ab ban jaayegi kahaani

Wo client ka project, Wo late night TT aur Carrom
Wo din Jab Onsite ke, sapne sajaate thhe hum

Wo roz sham ke samose, aur Wo Naarial paani
Kya mast din thhe, Zindgi kitni thi suhaani

Kisi ko shift allowance mila, koi hua retrench
Koi Onsite pe, koi VPP mein, koi 'Still on Bench'

Wo Rating/Appraisal ke loche, aur RMs ka atyaachaar
Wo boring hoti bench, Wo lamba hota project ka intezaar

Wo musibat ke waqt, Clients ka munh mod jaana
Wo ek-ek karke hamare, colleagues ka chhod jaana

Saari ye museebatein theen hamare hi time pe aani
Satyam ki life yaaron, ab ban jaayegi kahaani

Wo logon ka poochhna, “satyam mein kya chal raha hai?
Tech M ke aane se, kahan kya badal raha hai?”

In 2 saalon mein hum, kis kis daur se guzre
Kuchh sapne toote, kuchh reh gaye adhoore

Ab koi loan repay karega, to koi EMI bharega
Koi MS, koi MBA to koi shaadi ki tayyari karega

Bhool jaana mujhe, par rakhna ye nishani
Wo mayfair ka bus stop, Wo Hyderabadi Biryani
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Chaahe alag hon raaste, chahe juda hon manzilen
Bas yahi dua hai Khuda se, hum kabhi phir milen

Best of luck to friends .........

Is Asia the future of Automotive?

A slew of developments have taken place in last one year which changed the dynamics of world economics. Finance and Automotive sector can be used as gauge to measure the turmoil taking over the governments all over the world in their sleep. Though the changes in Financial sector are recent, Automotive has been showing the symptoms for some time now.

We saw Toyota Kirloskar Motors becoming the largest carmaker overtaking the previous title holder General Motors in 2007. Then we saw Tata Motors an Indian company taking over the prestigious European brands Jaguar and Land Rover. These events are significant as they mark the acceptance of Asian brands by the western markets. As these brands grow so would the dominance of Asian Automotive companies in the world market.

The Asian counterparts didn’t just limit themselves to brand building but focused on innovations too. These innovations spread from latest technology in green cars which Honda is now almost a synonym but also in creating new segments for the industry. The launch of Tata Motors’ Nano, “the Rs 1 Lakh car” (equivalent to about USD 2.2K) would unlock a whole new strata of society to automotive consumption. This is relevant as a large population in countries like India and China fall in this category. Is this something really out of the box, I don’t believe so as this principle has been time tested. All products start with limited upper class market and slowly spread to the masses with time. What really is worth appreciating is the first mover advantage which the Tata’s would have. Other companies like Toyota and Bajaj have also announced their rival products but they would take time to enter the mass market. Even then also, it’s the Asian counterparts who have the will to compete.

Lastly with bankruptcies of GM and Chrysler a vacuum would be created in world market specially US, which is by far the largest automotive market. The assets of GM are still to be sold off and a slew of Asian companies would be waiting to grab these at cheap prices. The assets though of low quality as they are defined for products which no longer hold to market requirement would provide easy entry to many smaller companies compared to the likes of Toyota and Honda. Already the buzz is on for the sale of Hummer to a Chinese company.

Coming times would provide great opportunity to the rising Asian Automotive companies, but the race is not over yet. European majors have shown resilience in these testing times and would give a good competition. They have the advantage of array of brands and the luxury image they maintain in the consumer mind. But the new war would not be fought in US and Europe but in countries like India and China with huge untapped potential giving Asian majors the ‘home turf’ advantage.

This feature will allow you to type in Hindi, Arabic, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telgu in any text box on any web-site of your choice. It works on Google web-sites as well as other web-sites. Actually Transliteration bookmarklet is a small piece of code that you store in your browser. It offers an option for converting English characters to the characters used in Hindi, Arabic, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telgu. Note that this is not the same as translation - it is the sound of the words that are converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. For example, typing "Namaste" transliterates into Hindi as "नमस्ते "

Vodafone ZooZoo won PETA Glitterbox Award

Our favourite and loving ZooZoos now creates a history by winning PETA award.

If you go to PETA india website Media Center. You will see it on top.

"For leaving the competition in the dust with its "ZooZoo" ad, Vodafone has won the first of PETA's 2009 Glitterbox Awards, which are given to businesses that take advantage of humane alternatives to the use of real animals in their ads."

It is noted that this company has came in bad news when they use dog in Hutch Ad."ZooZoo" is part of the latest Vodafone ad campaign, which has replaced the company's "Pug" ad campaign. PETA has raised objections in the past to the use of animals (including a parakeet and a dog) in Vodafone's (Hutch) ad campaigns.

"The latest ZooZoo ads are a refreshing change from the earlier Vodafone (Hutch) ad campaigns", says PETA Chief Functionary Anuradha Sawhney. "The popularity of this ad campaign proves that there are many creative ways to convey a message without using animals. Animals used in films are often treated as little more than props, and many suffer terribly behind the scenes."

Lost your Indian Driving License :: How to get Driving License reissued

Have you ever lose your drives license, if not then very good but if u have then you are among those who have lost it. For example ME- I’ve lost my Drivers License twice, I know this does not say anything about me being responsible but it has happened and I’m not very proud about. Well first time I lost my license it was in my wallet, which I dropped somewhere lost the whole thing. And the second time when I lost my License was well a really stupid and careless mistake on my part. To cut the long story short I lost it at the airport where I show my License as a photo ID proof at the airlines check in counter .

Well now as it lost and I can’t find it anywhere, I’ll need to apply fro a new one, and it’s going to be a hassles.

Getting a reissued license is not difficult if you know what you need to do and if have patience to deal with the government agencies like the police and the RTO.

STEP 1>> First thing you have to do is to file an lost report to a police station near to the place you lost your license.
STEP 2>> You need to goto the Regional Transport Office (RTO) from where your license was originally issued, in my case it would be East Delhi RTO and submit a copy of the Lost Report and a form LLD.

Once the authorities have verifies all the details from their records, a duplicate license will be issued to you, the valid period will be same as the previous license.

I will also advice you to keep a photocopy of the original license or at least all the particulars of the license such license no. etc, this will help the issuing authority to locate your particulars from their records.

Will Ferrari quit from F1 2010

Ferrari is a big name in Formula one Racing. But as per reports, on tuesday Ferrari has decided in a board meeting that they will quit Formula One at the end of season if the FIA adopts a budget cap for 2010.

"No F1 in 2010 if the rules do not change. Ferrari confirms its opposition to the new rules imposed by FIA and does not intend to register cars for the 2010 F1 world championship," a statement said.

The FIA want to introduce an optional 40 million pound ($60.7 million) budget cap next year to encourage new teams.Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo, head of the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA), has said it can create a two-tier championship that could be "fundamentally unfair and perhaps even biased".

The FIA has set a deadline of May 29 for teams wishing to compete in 2010 to enter and state whether they want a cap or not.

Ferrari, the sport's oldest and most successful team, also said to exit F1 earlier if proposals for a standard engine for all teams went ahead. Two other big names Toyota and Red Bull have already threatened not to enter coming championship unless the new rules introduced by the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) are changed.

eRoad.in :: Online Search for Bus availability

I think all of you must be knowing about eRail.in, a website launched 2 years back providing railway search in a different way with extra features. At that time it was the only website apart from Indian Railway website. So everybody has found it as a very good initiative. But soon after that so many websites have came with similar type of tools.

But in Bus search, I think they are little late. The same group of eRail.in has launched another website eRoad.in, giving information about bus availability and fares across India. This website is quite similar to their Railway website, with almost same interface which I think is very easy to use. You just need to select source and destination and choose the date. eRoad.in will show you available bus options for your root. They have facility of booking also with few partner website like redbus.in .

As soon as you submit your query it will show you result in a table with information like Travel agent name, Type of bus( Executive , Volvo, Non Ac & 2X2 etc), Departure, Arrival , Fare , available seats, details, and book . In this if you check details, it will show you boarding and drop points.

So Go and search for your travel needs

Number Portability soon in India

Coming September Indian telecom users will witness yet another feature from the Telcos – this time it’s the Number Portability!

In March this year, Syniverse Technologies and MNP Interconnection Telecom Solutions, a joint venture company by Telcordia Technologies, were awarded this license for a period of 10 years.

So what’s Number Portability?

Mobile subscribers will have an option to switch between different mobile operators to get better quality/tariff and still retain their number. "It will be a very strong weapon for the subscribers", says Sanjay Kasturia, Country Manager of Syniverse. According to Kasturia, the subscribers will benefit from the improvised service offered by the operators to retain their subscribers.

Such a service will have great impact on the already competitive telecom market. With over 370 million subscribers and growing, it’s surely

A welcome service to each subscriber of India. The service will be implemented in six months in New Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, and the Maharashtra circles, which is the first phase. The rest of the seven circles will be covered in the second phase.

Now you can stop complaining about the bad coverage or even a bad data tariff provided from your operator by simply changing the operator and still not fearing to lose your contacts.

Being a part of the world’s fastest growing country for telecom is always a great feeling! Let us all benefit from it and be proud subscriber.

Thanks to Saral Gupta for this informative article.

India faced first Sukhoi crash

This is the first time in the history of Sukhoi air crafts in Indian air force (IAF) that it’s most lethal aircraft Sukhoi MKI (Made for India version of original MK) got crashed. It was a shock for many of us who put trust and belief in the mantle of Sukhoi aircrafts and Indian pilots.

There has been long list of fighter aircraft crashes ranging from MIG21, MIG25, and MIG29 to British Jaguar to MIRAGE 2000 and now Sukhoi MKI.
Previously the major cause for crashes was poor supply of spare parts after USSR disunion, but most of the time it was human error.

Indian air force is one of the finest air forces in the world because it has variety of aircraft which are designed and developed for different conditions and it’s a tough job to be a fighter pilot in such an air force.

But because of lack of air crafts much needed for training, pilots are forced to be trained directly on such lethal aircraft like MIG21 in their initial phases of training.

After the hawk aircraft deal with British aircraft company BAE (British Aerospace) it was supposed that pilots would be better trained and these crashes would stop.
But after Sukhoi case it seems that it will take more time to avoid such aircraft crashes.

For the youth in India who have passion and dreams with the aircraft, this one is nightmare.

All we can wish that their will be no more crashes and more genuine efforts will be made in this direction.

WINDOWS 7 coming this october

Windows 7 new operating system by microsoft is launching in this coming october . It has been announced by microsoft that the customers who purchase it during the first month will be offered a free Windows 7 upgrade after the release

WIndows 7 Release Candidate Connection(RC1)
The fresh speculation comes right as Microsoft is letting its Windows 7 Release Candidate out into the wild. Microsoft released Windows 7 RC1 for MSDN and TechNet subscribers on Thursday. The software will be made available for everyone else next Tuesday, May 5.

Gyus you don"t have to wait long for this OS . An apparent copy of the Windows 7 Release Candidate leaked onto file-sharing sites last week. From the looks of it, that might be the more accessible option at the moment, Microsoft has seemingly been suffering some sort of database glitch that's kept developers from successfully downloading the official file. You can check out the trial version of this new operating system easily....Want more info about this ,see"Windows 7 RC Adds New Remote Media Streaming, Virtual Windows XP Mode."

Command Prompt As a Calculator

Hey Folks you can also use your DOS command as a calculator, just follow the below given procedure and you can do all types arithmetic calculations......

There are two methods to do arithmetic calculations in Windows XP. Either open the Microsoft Calculator program (Start -> Run -> calc.exe) or simply open the good old MS-DOS command prompt window (Start -> cmd.exe)

Here's the SET syntax (type set /? )

set /a expression

Here are some examples of the SET command:

C:\>set /a 2+2 will output 4

C:\>set /a 2*(9/2) will output 8

C:\>set /a (2*9)/2 will output 9

C:\>set /a "31>>2" will output 7

The DOS calculator SET is more versatile than the Google Search calculator. It supports the Shift operator (>> or <<) and Octal or Hexadecimal to Decimal conversions.

Tips to avoid Arm pain due to PC usage

In the days of typewriter, a common condition was prevalent know as ‘writer’s cramp’. The typewriter has since been forgotten but the condition has worsened with time. Now, almost everyone who works on a computer for a living complains of pain. It may seem innocent when it starts but in cases the pain starts from arm and moves out to wrist and shoulder. “The problem routinely spreads to the entire arm, through the shoulder and up to the neck” said Orthopaedist Oliver Dierk. It has so much worsened that it has been recoined as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).

"Anyone who hunches over a computer and makes a series of short, quick movements risks a painful inflammation of the lower arm and its musculature," said Nils Graf Stenbock-Fermor, head of the German Orthopaedic Association.

With growing duration of use in work place and at home the symptoms have become serious and has started to come in notice, which went unnoticed previously for a long time.

"Women can be more susceptible than men, but, in general, it depends on a person's career," said Ursula Marschall, a doctor and head of a special clinic that works with a German health insurer.

The signs usually start with prickling sensations or numbness leading to loss of touch in the affected body part. This results in pain along various parts between wrist and shoulder. Initial symptoms are normally evident after long periods working at a PC, but tend to disappear after a good sleep. If the disease gets chronic, pain breaks out during everyday activities like shifting gears in a car and picking up articles.

Stenbock-Fermor advises against trying to treat the problem with medication. "You can use medication to minimise the symptoms," he says, adding, "But in the long term, they just mask the actual causes."

The problem can be controlled with regular exercise and using proper posture. Yoga and stretching exercises on a daily basis reduce the exposure to such disorders. But, if the problem gets severe its advised to consult your local physician.

Thanks to Rahil for this valuable information.

UK Job mails :: Be careful while choosing offers

World Economy is down ! Recession time ! Companies are laying off ! Still you are getting job offers for UK

Please be careful, This is recession time everywhere. In UK young graduates are not getting jobs , I hope you remember protest during G20 Summit. So in this time of crisis , how UK companies are so eager to hire Indian graduates. Please keep in mind these are fakes. Now let`s see how they fraud you -

These people scan your resumes posted on job portals like Naukri.com, Monster.com etc and send proposals to ‘eligible’ candidates, especially to freshers. They also conduct telephonic and video interviews with the candidates who respond to the offer.

There was one report published in Economics Time few days back ,

One person has got one similar offer and they have conducted telephonic and video interviews. After a few days, they send an offer letter to the candidates and ask them to pay Rs 75,000 as ‘upfront’ charges. Once the payment is done, the candidate receives visa payment receipt,UK work permit as well as a query letter from British Deputy Commission, Mumbai. Then they again ask for 75000 Rs as processing fee. And when that is paid No response from other side. then the candidate realizes he has been duped.

There are several examples like that so, we always suggest to think twice or thrice before replying to these type of mails.
